(Week Six) Improvisation #3 of Form

of Edward Hirsch's "Insomnia"

The poem is in unrhymed couplets.

of the lines: "Undressing the cold body," "where we meet the dead, knowing"

Undressing the cold body,
death's not very careful.

Two-handed antagonism
is where we meet the dead,

knowing hands once came alive
against another's skin, hips

disheveled, tired, in sheets
after sex--bare and bare and bare.
