Junkyard Quotes 53-58, Week 15

  1. "My hair looks like Medusa's snakes on steroids" -Me after waking up one morning and seeing my crazy hair

  2. "Poetic wonka-wonderland"

  3. "A dry run..."

  4. "Lets use my paper, it has reinforced edges..."

  5. "The virgin is dirty; her mantle is spoiled."

  6. "Liberal Champion!... Why have you forsaken us!?"

    You have managed to pull some interesting language here. All of these quotes encompass great potential. You have the opportunity to go in many directions if you decide to do a free write. I was able to create my poem “Collecting Space” after pulling from a junkyard quote that simply said: “the junk in the back room,” which is what I’m actually leaning towards changing the name to, with a little tweaking. Junkyard quotes and calisthenics are great for creating interesting ideas. I especially gravitated towards “poetic wonka-wonderland” it has that “kiddy” feel to it that just makes you smile. There could be an interesting play on poetry being what candy is to a baby. There could be an interesting contrast presented in the poem as it transitions from adult to adolescence. It would also be fascinating to see how you could potentially incorporate all of these quotes into one piece.
